Adrian Campbell and the Kinnara Foundation Launch Co-Designed Community Impact Program at Marina Bay Lombok
Empowered People. Thriving Communities. Shared Prosperity.
Co-Founder of Kinnara Asia and the Kinnara Foundation, Adrian Campbell, has announced the launch of a landmark Community Impact Program in partnership with Chief Rochidi and the people of Buwun Mas Village.
Co-Designed for Community and Planet
Through the Sustainable Community Initiative (SCI), Marina Bay Lombok and Adrian Campbell are redefining what responsible tourism looks like in Indonesia. The program was co-designed with Chief Rochidi and local residents to ensure growth translates directly into education, employment, and ecological restoration.
“At our community round-table, we agreed that development must deliver shared prosperity,” said Chief Rochidi.
“English skills are vital for our children’s future. Tourism brings opportunities, but without language our young people cannot fully access them. This program is a bridge for our community to step into those opportunities with confidence.”

Education – The Bridge to Shared Prosperity
According to the 2024 EF English Proficiency Index, Indonesia ranks 80th globally with a score of 468, highlighting a clear opportunity for improvement. Responding to this, Adrian Campbell and Marina Bay Lombok are investing first in local educators.
Two teachers, Saparwadi Ashari, a high-school teacher, and Mulyatun, Principal of Buwun Mas Middle School, have each been awarded fully-funded six-month scholarships to study at Griffith University’s English Language School in Australia. When they return, their enhanced skills will flow directly into classrooms, building confidence and creating new pathways for the next generation.
Employment and Environment – Cleaning Coasts, Creating Futures
Plastic pollution remains a major global challenge. During an early site visit, Adrian Campbell witnessed tidal waste washing ashore from nearby islands. In response, Marina Bay Lombok’s Beach Crew Program now employs local villagers on liveable wages to remove and sort ocean-bound plastics along the Buwun Mas coastline.
This initiative not only restores natural beauty but also strengthens the local economy, demonstrating how environmental action and employment can move hand in hand.
“This is more than cleaning our beaches,” added Chief Rochidi.
“It is creating jobs, building pride in our village, and showing that development can respect both people and the environment.
We are committed to our continued partnership with Adrian Campbell and Marina Bay Lombok.”
A New Benchmark for Responsible Development
For Adrian Campbell, this collaboration embodies the values of Kinnara Foundation — responsibility, inclusivity, and equity.
“These initiatives demonstrate our belief that development should rise with community prosperity,”
“We are proud to be investing in people, education, and local economic development alongside building a world-class destination.
Together, we can shape a future where prosperity is shared. For us, this is just the beginning.” said Adrian Campbell, Co-Founder of Marina Bay Lombok.
